My Tips
- Adding powdered sugar to canned frosting can thicken to help with being too thin or for using in decorating bags.
- Be sure to refrigerate or serve quickly, if the cake get warm the frosting will run and fall between the cupcakes, making holes.
- Any strong board can be used for cakes, to reuse, decorate with the theme of the cake in paper and then cover with a clear food wrap, use the press & seal wrap, but it has press & seal written on it, you can use plastic wrap or find the decorative press & seal during the holidays.
- Go to your local discount store to get your cardboard for free, ask for moving boxes and they should save you some good sizes for getting the right size squares.
- Cast iron utensils must be heated up slowly, to conserve the life and the integrity of the utensil.
- Chicken is one of those meats that must be fully cooked. There is no such thing as “rare”, “medium rare”, “medium well”. ONLY WELL DONE IS YOUR OPTION WITH CHICKEN!!
- Buying Baguette bread on the day old rack is a good idea, I do it all the time to save some change, but if you’re not going to use right away. Slice and store till your ready to use. I recommend toasting ahead also so that the bread doesn’t mold on you. If stored properly in airtight containers the little toasts will last a good time.

- 4-19-09 - Romans 14:19-21, Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.
- 4-25-09 – Take advantage of craft store sales, it’s the best way to afford the great creations that everyone else has but at half the price.
- 5-2-09 – Adding oil or butter to pasta while cooking can aid in it not sticking together.
- 5-9-09 – Spraying all your bake ware with spray oil, will tremendously help with the cleanup after.
- 5-17-09 – Adding powdered sugar to ordinary canned frosting can thicken it up to be used in decorating bags and tips, also use flavored frostings for desired colors and to add some flavor to frostings you would make yourself.
- 5-24-09 – Fabulous finds can be attained at garage sales and flea markets, look past the rust and tatter. A simple coat of paint can turn the best junk into the most unlikely of treasures or decoration.
- 5-30-09 – Don’t take any wooden nickels!
- 6-6-09 – Detroit Redwings Rule!!!
- 6-14-09 – Be sure to add a little bit of water to any meat that will be cooked for a long period of time to prevent drying and making tough to eat.

- check the dollar stores, they can have a good selection of dried materials to assist in adding subtle touches to great pieces.
- be aware of the dried fall leaves, do not put these into something that will get wet, the colors run and can leave an orange sticky residue.
- take full advantage of craft store sales, there is hardly anything that is used that I have paid full price for.
- making instant mashed potatoes are excellent, the trick is to use more butter than the box says and reduce the water and add more milk equally. add milk by what ever you reduce the water so your liquid is still right. this trick will not let boxed mashed tators taste like the box.
